ABOUT US AND

WHY WE'RE DOING THIS

That's a great question.

As you can imagine, being on the sales and logistics side of big box furniture can be a grind. Containers went missing, shipments were delayed, and orders forgotten. Not to mention the cost fluctuations and factory shutdowns became mind-numbing.

My name is Jonathan Schulman and I have been in the furniture business for more than twenty years. After owning several large format retail stores and then moving to the wholesale side of things, I like to think I've seen it all. Years of grinding out big wins and having lots of fun have led me to want to dive into something more meaningful.
I love the furniture business, but having no affinity for mass-produced, vanilla product that lacks any sort of soul or passion, I am excited to have found the real stuff.

Products that come from the heart and are produced in the most rural of areas in Thailand by people who have been working with these items for years.

When I first saw this product at a furniture showroom almost a year ago, I was transported back to the late 1970s. My best friend's parents had a table just like what was in front of me that had been in their family for years.

To see these styles still on trend, and to see the reaction of the buyers, I knew this was something to get behind and I went to work.

We visited this remote factory in the middle of nowhere and personally selected the items you see on this site to be stained, cured, and kiln-dried.... right there in the jungle. After 6 weeks, they were packaged and shipped to me here in California..... and here we are.

I love to explore the world looking for cool stuff. Instead of finding something marketable and copying it in a massive factory for less money which is so commonly done, I want to work with the craftsman to bring genuine items to our market in North America at a great price and with quality to survive the ages.

Part of the profit will go back to the villages where we purchase from to help deliver services and improve their quality of life, as I hope the items they make improve the quality of yours. As this grows, I will share on this site what the proceeds of this project have meant to the people that make it happen.

Yours in style,
Jonathan
